This pathway develops professionals who combine technical fluency with strategic problem-solving to drive digital transformation. Apprentices learn to analyse business needs and design technology enabled solutions, delivering them with methodologies such as Agile, ITIL, and project-based consulting practices. They gain an understanding of enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies. Apprentices can begin supporting internal or client-facing projects.

Learning Objectives

On the Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional apprenticeship (IT Consultant pathway), the learner will develop the knowledge and skills required to analyse business needs and design technology solutions that deliver measurable value. This includes gathering and interpreting stakeholder requirements, evaluating existing systems and processes, and supporting the development of technology strategies that align with organisational objectives. The learner will gain experience in translating complex technical concepts into practical recommendations, while developing an understanding of system design, implementation approaches and the wider technology landscape.

The programme will also support the learner to build strong consultancy and stakeholder management skills. They will learn to work collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders, contribute to project delivery, and support the implementation of digital and technology solutions. Alongside technical and analytical capability, the learner will develop skills in communication, problem-solving and professional practice, ensuring they can present insights clearly, manage competing priorities and support organisations in adopting effective and sustainable technology solutions.

This apprenticeship is available to employers and employees looking to upskill in their organisation. We cannot support applications from unemployed individuals.
 
Sole traders or self-employed individuals cannot enrol themselves but may enrol a new employee.
 
For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund. Submit an enquiry to find out more
