Skill Overview

This SIA Routeway gives learners the skills and qualifications to gain employment in the private security industry.  We provide the Door supervision qualification which opens up more avenues of employment as customers can also work in security officer/guard roles.  

In addition we pay for the SIA licence for every learner on successful completion of the routeway.

Learning Objectives

The course consists of the following elements:

Level 1 certificate in Employability - covering team work, problem solving, Health and safety, Self-assessment, rights and responsibilities, communication, mindset and preparing for interview

Level 1 Award in Customer Service- The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and understanding in customer service for learners who deal, or intend to deal, with customers on a daily basis as part of their job role and is applicable to a variety of work environments. 

L3 Emergency First Aid at work- The objective of this qualification is to support learners in becoming emergency first aiders in the workplace. The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident. The qualification also covers first aid skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.

Level 2 Working as a door supervisor- This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor. It is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by Skills for Security, the standards setting body for the security industry and the SIA, which regulates the private security industry. 

After completion the learner will be given guidance on how to apply for their SIA licence and support through the process. They will receive an SIA card for by provider, this can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to arrive

Must have lived in UK for 3+ years to be eligible for funding
Must have lived in UK for 5+ years to be eligible for SIA licence (otherwise customer will need overseas DBS)
Not have completed L1 certificate in Employability
Not have completed L1 award in Customer service or higher
Not have completed L2 Door supervision (office will check all learners eligibility when referred via Learner record service)
