Skill Overview

A Level 7 programme, the Senior Leader Apprenticeship is designed for anyone moving into a senior or strategic management role, such as General Managers, Chief Officers, and Directors. During the programme, you will learn how to wield influence at a higher organisational level, including determining and managing strategic objectives, and setting the office culture and tone. 

The Senior Leader Apprenticeship will enable you to gain skills in governance, vision-setting, and stakeholder management. Upon completion, you will be equipped to lead teams, identify opportunities and risks, handle crisis situations, and oversee agile transformations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, Senior Leader Apprentices will gain the following knowledge and skills, and will be able to exhibit the following behaviours:

Knowledge:
Strategic Leadership and Vision Setting – How to shape organisational mission, culture, and values and how to deliver new market strategies and respond to changing customer demands.
Decision Making and Insight – Knowledge of competitive strategies, effective decision-making, use of big data, and insight to implement and manage change.
Influencing and Stakeholder Management – Understanding of influencing and negotiating strategies both upwards and outwards, including diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders.

Skills:
Change Management – Create an environment for innovation and creativity, leading change and driving continuous improvement.
Communication and Relationship Management – Construct an open culture and high-performance working environment, building confidence and developing trust.
Financial Management – Oversee development and monitoring of financial strategies and setting of organisational budgets based on KPIs.

Behaviours:
Innovative – Explore areas of ambiguity and complexity to find creative solutions. Championing Inclusion – Value difference and champion diversity.
Teamwork – Work collaboratively enabling empowerment and delegation.

Funding Option

Funding Eligibility

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
