Skill Overview

The course consists of 13 modules and includes media demonstrations, hands-on activities, and knowledge check questions. At the end of the course, you will complete a consolidation exercise, which will help you review what you have learned and assess your understanding. The course also contains quizzes at the end of each module and a Validation Test at the end of the course. With successful completion of the course, you will receive a Pitman Training certificate to verify your
achievement.

Learning Objectives

- Use date and time functions, such as NOW and TODAY
- Calculate dates in the past and the future and find the number of calendar or business days between two dates by using the WORKDAY and DATEDIF functions
- Use the LOWER, UPPER, and PROPER functions to change text formatting
- Use the FIND function to locate specific text strings within bigger text strings
- Calculate the length of a text string with the LEN function and combine the FIND and LEN functions to provide arguments for other functions
- Extract portions from text strings using the RIGHT and LEFT functions
- Use the TRIM, SUBSTITUTE, and VALUE functions to transform raw data and extract useful information
- Perform logical operations in formulas 
- Look up data by using the HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and CHOOSE functions
- Calculate loan payments using Excel’s PMT function
- Calculate future value of investments using the FV function
- Calculate the monthly principal payments for a loan with the PPMT function
- Calculate monthly interest payments for a loan with the IPMT function
- Calculate the depreciation per year with the SLN function
- Use Excel statistical descriptive functions, such as AVERAGE, MODE.SNGL, and MODE.MULT to find typical values within data sets
- Calculate data dispersion measures using QUARTILE.INC, STDEV.P, and STDEV.S
- Work with Excel statistical functions for forecasting, such as SLOPE, FORECAST.LINEAR, LINEST and the Forecast Sheet tool
- Make predictions for an entire population based on the behaviour of a sample, using normal functions, such as NORM.DIST and NORM.INV
- Connect to other workbooks and datasets outside Excel
- Create and modify macros
- Create and modify PivotTables and PivotCharts
- Use Excel’s tools for data analysis (such as the Goal Seek and Scenario Manager tools) to explore how variables can produce different outcomes in a formula
- Use advanced charts to present data graphically
