The Effective Communication Skills for Work course is designed to help learners develop the communication skills necessary for success in the workplace. Throughout the 12-week program, learners will explore key concepts in both written and oral communication, focusing on workplace contexts. The course offers practical strategies to improve the clarity and effectiveness of communication, helping individuals to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and customers. Key topics include: • The different types and purposes of workplace communication. • Writing clear, professional emails, memos, and reports. • Presenting ideas clearly in both written and spoken formats. • Handling workplace discussions, feedback, and complaints professionally. • Understanding the importance of tone and empathy in communication. The course is interactive, with a variety of activities, group discussions, role-plays, and written exercises designed to help learners improve their communication skills in practical, real-world situations. By the end of the course, learners will have gained the confidence to communicate effectively across various workplace scenarios, with the knowledge to write professional documents and deliver clear oral presentations. Session Duration – 12 weeks (3.5 hours per session)

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of workplace communication modes—including verbal, non-verbal, written, and visual—and apply them appropriately in professional contexts. • Write and present clear, concise, and professional communications using a range of workplace formats, tailored to different audiences and purposes. • Identify and overcome common communication barriers while adapting communication styles to promote effective collaboration and interaction in workplace settings. • Incorporate visuals effectively into written and oral communications to enhance clarity, engagement, and impact. • Communicate professionally and empathetically with customers and stakeholders, handling queries, feedback, and complaints across multiple channels with confidence and tact.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service. To be eligible for this training, you must be: • 19 years old or over • Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker. • Have the right to live and work in the UK. • You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years. This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches.
