Grant Thornton, in partnership with BPP, is excited to offer a new Data Analyst Apprenticeship. This partnership brings together Grant Thornton's extensive real world insight and expertise, with BPP's high quality apprenticeship approach, creating a programme with practical application from the outset. The Data Analyst Apprenticeship will help your organisation recruit new talent into data specialist roles or upskill existing employees who are exposed to greater volumes of data. This will develop the ability in your business for analysis and generate insights to inform better decision making, which is critical to any modern business.

Knowledge: Functionality of Microsoft Excel as a data analytics tool Programming in Python and R Advanced data analytics tools Apache (Hadoop & MADlib), Map Reduce, RStudio Use of data visualisation tools to present data in infographics, charts and reports The ability to compile data from different sources - e.g. business information systems, spreadsheets, reports and public data Data types, data lifecycle, data structure, database design and data architecture Process, cleanse, analyse (including statistical analysis) and present data on a regular basis Set up daily and monthly reports Run ad hoc and standard data analysis reports and performance dashboards Data mining and forecasting Big Data - working with and processing large amounts of complex data Introduction to business partnering Commercial fundamentals Skills and Behaviours: The ability to collect and analyse information to problem-solve and inform decisions. This ensures future effectiveness and prevents issue recurrence. Developing a workforce of analytical minds and problem solvers who understand the root cause and supplement their technical knowledge with a systematic process to tackle problems To approach problem solving and decision making with logical thinking and creativity Take a business partnering approach and consider the commercial to understand the organisations issues and how they might be resolved through data analysis Work independently and taking responsibility. For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
