The short course helps logistics and warehouse professionals build core communication and documentation skills needed for efficiency, compliance, and professionalism in fast-paced environments. Learners will develop confidence and accuracy in completing essential workplace documentation – such as shift logs, delivery notes, and health and safety instructions – as well as improve written communication with customers and team members. Key topics include: • Writing accurate delivery notes and shipment records. • Creating clear health and safety instructions. • Communicating professionally with customers and colleagues. • Using correct tone, structure, and formatting in workplace documents. • Improving clarity and consistency in written communication. By the end of the course, learners will be able to: • Recognise and respond to key workplace writing tasks in logistics, such as shift handover, delivery notes, and safety notices, using clear, concise and purpose-driven language suited to operational environments. • Accurately complete delivery documentation and shift records, ensuring correct spelling of key terminology, use of industry-appropriate formats, and attention to detail in time, quality and item descriptions. • Produce clear and structured health and safety instructions that comply with workplace standards and are easy for colleagues to follow, using bullet points, headings and consistent formatting. • Write professional and empathetic customer communications (e.g. responses to complaints or delivery updates), learning how to adapt tone, structure and language to suit the situation. • Apply improved workplace literacy skills to reduce errors, improve team communication, and increase operational efficiency recognising how effective written communication supports safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction in logistics settings.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service. To be eligible for this training, you must be: • 19 years old or over • Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker. • Have the right to live and work in the UK. • You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years. This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches.
