Skill Overview

This qualification is designed for learners to learn about the principles of computer programming to understand how programming works. You will develop text-based programming skills to design and develop your computer program.

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at our adult learning centres.

Funding Eligibility

The majority of our courses are free for Manchester residents aged 19+. During your assessment and enrolment appointment, we will assess your eligibility.

However, if you meet the requirements below, it’s likely that you’ll be eligible and will not have to pay any fees for your course.

•	Employed and earning less than £25,000
•	Unemployed and in receipt of an income-based benefit
•	Studying for your first full Level 2 on an eligible legal entitlement course.

You should have secure L1 practical IT skills and IT knowledge
You must be able to speak, read and write English confidently (Level 2)
You will ideally have access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device (depending on device availability)
You will need to have L1 award in Introduction to Programming or equivalent knowledge
