Purpose of the Day To equip managers and leaders with the confidence, clarity, and practical tools to lead their teams effectively - handling the tough conversations when they arise, but also preventing issues through stronger communication, clearer expectations, and more consistent leadership. Workshop Flow Morning – Setting the Foundations • Creating a positive environment for open conversations We start by exploring how managers can build trust and respect within their teams. This helps create the right conditions for honest, constructive dialogue — especially important when discussing performance, conduct, or attendance. • Clarity and accountability in leadership Many people challenges begin with unclear expectations. In this session, we look at what clarity really means in practice, how to set measurable standards, and how to balance high expectations with genuine support. • Everyday communication that builds confidence Managers will develop habits that strengthen day-to-day communication - listening with intent, structuring one-to-ones, giving balanced feedback, and following up consistently. This builds confidence before conversations ever become difficult. Afternoon – Applying and Embedding the Skills • Handling difficult and performance-related conversations The core of the workshop focuses on realistic manufacturing examples - such as attendance, teamwork, and performance issues. We’ll provide simple, practical structures to keep conversations factual, fair, and focused on improvement. • Staying calm and composed under pressure Here we look at emotional regulation and resilience: how to stay calm, manage reactions (both theirs and others’), and maintain professionalism when things get tense. • Encouraging ownership and motivation The day finishes with practical tools to help managers build accountability and initiative in their teams — moving from “telling” to “developing” and creating a stronger sense of ownership. Throughout the day we also touch on inclusive communication, helping managers adapt their approach for different personalities and working styles. Outcomes By the end of the session, participants will: • Feel confident addressing attendance, performance, and behavioural challenges. • Use clear, structured approaches to feedback and difficult discussions. • Strengthen day-to-day communication and build trust in their teams. • Stay calm and constructive under pressure. • Foster accountability and motivation across the workforce.
