The CIPR Professional Diploma is ideal for experienced PR practitioners who are looking to progress into management roles or benchmark their experience through an industry-recognised qualification. Through this qualification, you will gain an advanced understanding of PR strategy, content management, media and engagement, and PR leadership. The Diploma in Public Relations is a level 7 qualification (Master’s level) and will to support you in moving into a senior PR position. It is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to design effective PR strategies and influence behaviour in a forever-changing environment. The course takes between 10 and 12 months to complete.

To gain the full Diploma in Public Relations, you will need to complete three units. Unit 1: PR Strategy & Planning This unit will enable you to develop an understanding of PR within a strategic management framework. You will examine the relationship between PR and other organisational functions and consider the practical challenges relating to PR strategy. You will also learn how to use research and analysis to support problem identification, stakeholder management and objective setting. This unit is assessed by practical assignment. Unit 2: PR Content, Communications and Engagement This unit focuses on developing PR strategies using content and communications to drive engagement, including the examination of the current media landscape. You will learn how to effectively engage audiences through developing key messages, strategic narratives, and application of storytelling techniques. This unit is assessed by practical assignment. Unit 3: PR Management, Measurement and Evaluation This unit will give you the skills and knowledge you need to evaluate PR activities, programmes, and strategies. You will learn how to measure the effectiveness of public relations, including outputs, outcomes as well as the use of qualitative research. The unit will also develop your understanding in the management of PR in practice, including projects and resources. This unit is assessed by practical assignment.

The CIPR Professional PR Diploma is designed for experienced PR professionals or for those who have previously studied the CIPR Certificate in Public Relations. To undertake this qualification, you are required to have one of the following: The CIPR Level 5 Certificate and one year’s experience in a PR environment A business / marketing degree, in addition to one year’s work experience A non-business / marketing degree, in addition to two years’ experience in PR Four years’ relevant full-time employment in PR, in addition to five GCSEs, one of which must be in English Language
