The Greener Future Project Manager Apprenticeship is based on the  Associate Project Manager (APM) apprenticeship standard, giving you all the core project management skills you need while adding a strong sustainability focus.

You’ll gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver projects that balance people, planet, and profit, applying structured project management principles to real-world challenges.

The programme includes two core sustainability modules (from the options below) built into the standard apprenticeship. You can also choose two extra modules at an additional cost to expand your expertise and make your projects even greener.

We deliver the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) alongside this apprenticeship, providing a recognised pathway to professional project management certification while equipping you to lead the transition to a greener future.

This apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are already involved in managing projects or regularly lead initiatives that impact people, planet, and profit. To be eligible, you must be actively working on projects where sustainability and environmental considerations play a role.

Whether you’re just starting your project management career or have some experience, our Greener Future Project Manager Apprenticeship gives you access to a wealth of knowledge that will strengthen your professional skills while embedding sustainable practices into your projects.

It’s essential that you are actively involved in projects so you can apply what you learn directly to your workplace, delivering greener, more efficient, and impactful outcomes.

The programme covers the theory, skills, and behaviours of professional project management, with a strong focus on sustainability, carbon awareness, energy efficiency, and green technologies. You’ll explore structured project management principles and learn how to apply them to real-world projects, ensuring your learning goes beyond theory and equips you to lead the transition to a more sustainable future.

How is the course funded?
The course can be 95% funded by the government or paid in full, through the
apprenticeship levy. Additional financial incentives may also be available. It’s the employer’s responsibility to fund the course but Realise will support you to access funding.

Learning Objectives

You’ll gain a solid foundation in the key principles of sustainable project management, equipping you to deliver projects that are effective, environmentally responsible, and aligned with long-term organisational goals.

The APM qualification demonstrates your understanding of all aspects of project management, including how to integrate sustainability considerations, carbon reduction, and green technologies into project planning and delivery, while ensuring projects support both business and environmental objectives.

Funding Eligibility

This apprenticeship is available to employers and employees looking to upskill in their organisation. We cannot support applications from unemployed individuals.
 
Sole traders or self-employed individuals cannot enrol themselves but may enrol a new employee.
 
You have a right to work in the UK
You have lived in the country for the last 3 years consecutively and have not left for a period of over 6 months within that timeframe.

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
