Skill Overview

The Award in Education and Training (Level 3) replaces the previous Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification. It is an introductory qualification appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider, and for those delivering work-based training or working within voluntary, community, private and public organisations. It is also suitable for people who are considering this kind of work in the future.

Learning Objectives

The Award offers an introduction to teaching and covers topics such as the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer, planning and delivering inclusive sessions, and assessing learning. There are 3 written assignments, and candidates plan and deliver a 20 minute micro-teach to their peers.
