Through the HR Support Apprenticeship, you will take ownership of and execute a wide range of HR procedures within organisation policy and current law. You will learn how to handle day-to-day queries, provide advice on HR issues, and manage HR processes. You will gain a good understanding of HR legislation and the systems, tools and processes used in your organisation. The HR Support Apprenticeship is a Level 3 programme designed for those working in either a medium to large organisation as part of the HR function, or HR Managers working in a small organisation.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, HR Support Apprentices will gain the following knowledge and skills, and will be able to exhibit the following behaviours: Knowledge: HR Legislation and Policy – Understand HR legislation and the HR policy framework of your organisation, as well as where to find expert advice. HR Function – Knowledge of the role and focus of HR within the organisation; its business plan / priorities and how these apply to your role. HR Systems and Processes – Understand the systems, tools and processes used in the role, together with the standards to be met, including the core HR systems used by your organisation. Skills: Service Delivery – Deliver excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice, and support, primarily to managers. Communication – Build trust and sound relationships with customers, and handle conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially. Problem Solving – Use sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Behaviours: Honesty & Integrity – Show integrity and trustworthiness by doing the right thing. Flexibility – Adapt positively to changing work priorities and patterns when new tasks need to be done or requirements change. Resilience – Display energy and enthusiasm, dealing positively with setbacks when they occur.

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
