This two-day course develops essential English communication and digital literacy skills for employees who use English as an additional language. It combines workplace-focused ESOL learning with practical AI-supported digital activities to build confidence in understanding, writing, and responding to workplace information. Through realistic tasks such as reading memos, completing forms, writing messages, and using AI tools safely, learners improve their ability to communicate clearly and responsibly at work. The course supports a wide range of employment contexts, including construction, retail, warehousing, care, and hospitality. Delivery is classroom-based with guided digital practice, providing a blended approach to language and technology that enhances employability and communication effectiveness in modern workplaces. Understand and respond appropriately to spoken and written workplace communication. Read and interpret short workplace texts, memos, and signage. Write clear, polite workplace messages using correct grammar and structure. Use AI tools to simplify, check, and improve workplace communication. Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, clarity, and reliability. Apply safe and responsible digital practices, including data protection and GDPR principles. Reflect on how AI tools can support their ongoing English learning and workplace confidence. All skills are developed through contextualised examples gathered from employers or simulated sector materials and assessed through observation, written and digital tasks, and reflective logs.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service. To be eligible for this training, you must be: • 19 years old or over • Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker. • Have the right to live and work in the UK. • You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years. This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches.

This course is suitable for individuals for whom English is an additional language and who wish to improve workplace communication and digital confidence. Learners should have basic English and IT familiarity (Entry Level 2–3) and access to: A laptop, tablet, or smartphone with internet connection Microsoft 365 or equivalent browser-based tools Access to approved AI tools for learning (as guided by tutor) Employers are encouraged to provide contextual materials such as memos, forms, or vocabulary lists to tailor the learning experience.
