Looking after employee mental health and wellbeing is vital to create a thriving work environment and enhancing overall productivity and staff engagement. Good mental health and wellbeing are key drivers of employee engagement and organisational performance. Mentally well employees are more productive, take less sick leave, and are less likely to seek other employment, resulting in savings on recruitment and training costs. According to Deloitte, poor mental health costs UK employers up to £56 billion annually, making it crucial to support employees who may be experiencing mental health issues. As poor mental health becomes the leading cause of staff sickness absence, prioritising employee health and wellbeing is no longer optional but essential for building a thriving organisation. This award is for senior leaders to understand the impact of mental health and wellbeing on organisational performance. Leaders will critically assess the complexities of managing wellbeing and will appraise contemporary approaches for the creation of healthy work systems. The unit culminates in leaders being given the opportunity to propose a series of recommendations to create and sustain a positive culture of mental health and wellbeing within an organisational context.
