"Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities. The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows the apprentice to develop a wide range of skills. The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others. "

Duties of the job role covered as part of the Apprenticeship: Duty 1: Administrative Support: Providing comprehensive administrative support to colleagues/teams. Duty 2: Data Management: Ensuring data accuracy, analysing data, maintaining records, and using data for decision-making. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and legislations. Where there is opportunity, train staff on data privacy policies and procedures. Proactively identify areas for improvement and suggest innovative solutions. Duty 3: Document Handling: Preparing, organising, and managing documents and reports in compliance with relevant regulations and legislations. Where there is opportunity, train staff on data privacy policies and procedures. Proactively identify areas for improvement and suggest innovative solutions. Duty 4: Financial Administration: Handling financial tasks such as processing invoices, purchase orders, expenses, payments etc. Duty 5: Correspondence Handling e.g: Draft and send out emails, letters, and other communications, Attend and participate in meetings, Deal with incoming and out going calls Duty 6: Stakeholder Interaction: Engage with stakeholders appropriately, adapt communication styles and tools to effectively manage the relationships. Handling inquiries, resolving issues, and providing information or services as required. Exhibit a professional attitude in all interactions, including punctuality, dress code adherence, and respectful communication. Represent the company positively in all internal and external engagements Duty 7: Logistics Coordination e.g: Arrange transportation and accommodations for event participants. Ensure all logistical arrangements are in place for a smooth event. Manage logistics of resources around the organisation. Duty 8: Meeting Coordination: Assisting in the planning and organisation of meetings. Produce minutes of meetings. Duty 9: Manage Resources: Allocate and monitor human, financial, or material resources effectively to ensure maintenance and availability. Duty 10: Time management - Manage own workload using time management tools and systems. Demonstrating initiative, taking ownership of tasks and projects, ensuring their timely and accurate completion. Duty 11: Coaching – to coach others in the processes and sharing best practice. Helping others to be efficient in their role and helping to improving their performance. Duty 12: Project Management: Effectively implement or improve a process using project management knowledge, skills and behaviours. Duty 13: Manage own performance - Identify the limits of their personal professional experience and competence. Regularly seek feedback from colleagues and supervisors to improve performance. Use feedback constructively to enhance skills and productivity. Participate in professional development opportunities, such as training sessions and workshops. Set personal development goals and work towards achieving them.

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
