This practical course strengthens the essential written communication skills required for professionals working in residential childcare. Participants will develop confidence and accuracy in producing clear, objective workplace documentation, safeguarding reports, risk assessments, and professional correspondence. Emphasis is placed on using appropriate tone, structure, and details to support effective communication across childcare teams and with external professionals. This course supports improved documentation standards and contributes to safer, more coordinated care. Over a 4-week period (12 hours total), learners will focus on producing clear, accurate, and professional documentation to support high-quality care and safety. Key topics include: • Writing detailed and objective case notes. • Completing safeguarding and incident reports. • Preparing risk assessments with clarity and precision. • Communicating professionally through emails and written correspondence. • Using appropriate language and tone in sensitive childcare contexts. Employer Benefits: • Improves documentation quality: Staff produce more consistent, professional records that meet safeguarding and inspection standards. • Supports safer practice: Accurate risk assessments and safeguarding reports contribute to better decision-making and child protection. • Builds professionalism: Develops a team culture of clear, respectful communication across internal and external stakeholders. • Flexible delivery: Delivered in-house, at our offices, or online – with scheduling that fits around shift patterns. • Reduces admin errors: Staff gain confidence in written formats, reducing miscommunication or incomplete records. • CPD aligned: Supports ongoing staff development in line with residential care frameworks and CQC expectations. This is a non-regulated course. Session Duration – 12 hours over 4 weeks (3 hours per session)
