Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course on the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). In this course, we will guide you through the different elements of the Mental Health Capacity Act, and help you to understand why it is relevant in your role. Firstly, we will cover the definition of mental capacity, and common causes that lead to a lack of mental capacity in an individual. The next section will cover the five statutory principles of the Mental Capacity Act, in detail, for you to revise and understand. After that, we will cover the two-stage process that is used to assess a person for lack of capacity. This section will also explain how to deliver the most appropriate care if an individual is deemed to have a lack of capacity, and what decisions can be supported or made on behalf of individuals. Next, we will list the different roles, bodies, and powers that support the Mental Capacity Act, elaborating on how they do this effectively and efficiently. The final section will provide information on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, detailing the intentions of the safeguards, and situations where restraints or restrictions may need to be implemented. www.halostaffing.co.uk
