Skill Overview

First Aid at Work training (FAW) enables a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who becomes ill or is injured whilst in the workplace. It also equips the first aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses. Our first aid training is aligned to current guidelines published by the Resuscitation Council (UK), Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and First Aid Regulations 1981.

Learning Objectives

Practical and theoretical First Aid training covering:         Responsibilities/role of the first aider         Assessment of the situation         Preventing cross infection         First aid kits/equipment         Accident recording/reporting         Primary and secondary survey         Recovery position         Resuscitation/CPR         Safe use of an AED (Defib)         Dealing with an unresponsive casualty         First aid treatment for, choking, hypovolemic shock, bleeding, burns, seizures, Injuries to bones, joints and muscles, head and spinal injuries, chest injuries, eye injuries, poisoning, anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, heart attack, angina, stroke and other common injuries/conditions
