This one-day short course is designed to help employees and leaders develop confidence and practical skills in public speaking. Participants will learn how to manage nerves, structure clear and engaging speeches, and use body language and voice effectively. Through guided practice, feedback, and real-world speaking tasks, learners will build the ability to deliver presentations with confidence and impact. We offer a flexible approach to delivery - this course can be delivered on-site at the employer's premises, in-house at our training centre, or online. Content and session length can also be adapted based on employer needs and feedback. This is a non-regulated course. Session Duration: 4 hours (1 day) Key Topics: - Overcoming nerves and building speaking confidence. - Workplace relevance of public speaking (meetings, briefings, presentations). - Speech structures for clarity and impact. - Openings, closings, and signposting for audience engagement. - Voice control: projection, pace, tone, and pausing. - Body language and non-verbal communication. - Delivering a short, professional workplace presentation. - Giving and receiving constructive feedback. By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Manage Nerves: Recognise common barriers to confident speaking and apply practical strategies (breathing, posture, mindset) to control nerves. 2. Structure Speeches: Plan short talks using proven frameworks (e.g., problem–solution, three-point structure, past–present–future) with clear openings and conclusions. 3. Use Voice and Body Language Effectively: Apply vocal techniques (pace, tone, projection, pausing) and non-verbal skills (posture, gestures, eye contact) to engage an audience. 4. Deliver a Confident Presentation: Present a 3–5 minute talk on a workplace topic with clarity, structure, and impact. 5. Reflect and Improve: Identify personal strengths and areas for growth, setting goals for continued development in public speaking.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service. To be eligible for this training, you must be: • 19 years old or over • Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker. • Have the right to live and work in the UK. • You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years. This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches
