Equip participants with strategies to support Year 7 students in key maths topics (e.g., algebra, fractions, data handling) aligned with the UK National Curriculum. 

 

Build confidence in explaining and reinforcing maths concepts to children, addressing common challenges. 

 

Provide practical, hands-on activities to develop supportive teaching techniques suitable for home or classroom use. 

 

Foster collaboration through group discussions to share experiences and solutions for supporting children’s maths learning. 

This training can be tailored to meet the employers needs, this can also be delivered for Intermediate and advanced levels

Learning Objectives

-Understand key Year 7 maths topics (e.g., algebra, fractions). 

- Learn strategies to build children’s confidence in maths. 

- Recognise common challenges for Year 7 students.

 Master techniques to teach fractions and percentages. 

- Apply strategies to help children with real-world examples. 

- Address misconceptions in fraction and percentage calculations. 

- Learn to support data handling (e.g., bar charts, averages). 

- Develop problem-solving strategies for Year 7 students. 

- Practice guiding children through multi-step problems. 

-  Consolidate strategies for supporting Year 7 maths. 

- Apply algebra, fractions, and data skills to a real-world scenario. 

- Develop a personal action plan for ongoing support.

This course takes roughly 4 - 5 hours , and can be completed in the employers workplace, remotely or in a different location. This course can be tailored to the needs of every employers needs in any sector.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service.

To be eligible for this training, you must be:

•	19 years old or over 
•	Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker.
•	Have the right to live and work in the UK. 
•	You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years.

This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches.
