Account management is not a science, it is an art requiring subtlety, flexibility, vision and diplomacy. Becoming an account manager can be a big leap in your career. Whether you work in a PR or marketing agency or client side, effective account management requires a wide myriad of skills that often nobody teaches you. This one-day bootcamp is designed to give the strategies and tactics you need to successfully manage and grow accounts. You’ll master the key skills needed to be a successful account manager; from verbal and non-vernal communication, negotiation to upselling, time management and client handling. Our course will help you understand what is expected of you as an account manager and how to excel in account management. The course will cover a range of topics, including: Account management responsibilities, understanding the expectations of the role, from senior leadership to junior roles, and how these expectations differ from client to supplier. Recognising common client relationship challenges and developing strategies to manage them successfully, including dealing with ‘difficult’ clients. The Client/Consultancy life cycle and how to manage the various stages of it. Growing your client account/portfolio in revenue terms – the secrets behind up selling and how to present ideas to your client that get buy in. Understanding finances and contracts management, knowing what to look for and how to answer the tough questions. Develop communication skills, including listening, questioning, and non-verbal cues, to manage client interactions and control conversations. Leadership development and understanding the difference between being a manager and a leader. How to inspire your team and set high standards for yourself. Effective delegation techniques, ensuring tasks are managed efficiently and that you provide clear, inspiring instructions.

On completion of this course, you will be able to: Implement strategies and tactics to successfully manage and grow client accounts. Identify client types and alter behaviour to ensure good relations with every client – regardless of how they behave. Master both verbal and non-verbal communication to ensure successful interactions with clients. Identify commercial skills and finances of an agency and what the Account manager needs to know. Understand the key distinctions between managing people and leading them and develop the leadership qualities needed to inspire your team. Manage your time and your teams effectively.
