The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA England) 2-Day course is a comprehensive training programme designed to equip up to 16 participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health issue or crisis. This course covers a range of mental health conditions, offers practical first aid techniques, and emphasises the importance of self-care and ongoing learning. By the end of the course, participants will be certified Mental Health First Aiders, capable of recognising early signs of mental health issues, providing non-judgmental support, and guiding individuals towards appropriate professional help.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: - Understand Mental Health and Well-being: Gain a deep understanding of what mental health is, the factors that can affect well-being, and the stigma surrounding mental health issues. - Recognise Signs of Mental Health Issues: Identify signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, and substance misuse. - Provide Mental Health First Aid: Learn how to offer initial support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis, such as having suicidal thoughts or experiencing panic attacks, and how to guide them towards appropriate professional help. - Understand the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE): Use the ALGEE framework to assess risk, provide appropriate support, and encourage professional help. - Promote Recovery: Understand how to support someone’s recovery by providing ongoing support and encouraging self-help strategies. - Maintain Self-Care: Recognise the importance of self-care for Mental Health First Aiders and develop strategies to maintain their own mental well-being.
