Learning Objectives

The Improvement Specialist Level 5 Apprenticeship develops the skills needed to lead and implement business improvement strategies across various industries. Apprentices will gain expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, project and change management, data analysis, and problem-solving methodologies to drive efficiency and enhance performance. The programme covers stakeholder engagement, process mapping, risk management, and sustainable improvement techniques. Designed for professionals responsible for optimising operations, reducing waste, and improving quality, this apprenticeship prepares individuals for roles in continuous improvement, operational excellence, and business transformation.

Funding Eligibility

For organisations with an annual wage bill under £3million, apprentices aged 16-21 the programme costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. 

If your current wage bill is over £3million you will pay into an apprenticeship account, which the cost of the apprenticeship programme is taken from.

To enrol in the Improvement Specialist Level 5 Apprenticeship, learners must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in maths and English. They should have also completed the Improvement Practitioner Level 4 Apprenticeship or hold a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Additionally, applicants must be currently working in a continuous improvement role with the opportunity to lead the deployment of their organisation’s improvement strategy, as well as train and mentor others to drive operational excellence.
