This short course supports residential childcare professionals in developing confidence and competence in essential numeracy skills required for their roles. Through real-world tasks such as planning meals, managing group budgets, and creating schedules, learners will develop practical maths skills they can immediately apply in their setting. This course builds on core employability and problem-solving skills and can act as a stepping stone to further qualifications in Functional Skills Maths or residential childcare. Over a 4-week period (12 hours total), learners will focus on applying maths in real-life childcare settings to support planning, budgeting, and educational activities. Key topics include: • Creating and managing activity timetables. • Budgeting for meals, outings, and resources. • Tracking and recording expenses accurately. • Supporting numeracy development in young people. • Applying maths to everyday decision-making in care settings. Benefits for the Employers: •Enhances operational efficiency: Staff becomes more confident in managing budgets, time, and resources effectively. •Improves quality of care: Employers can make informed decisions around activities, food planning, and shift scheduling, directly improving the service experience for young people. •Supports staff development and retention: Demonstrates your commitment to continuous professional development and upskilling. •Minimises disruption through flexible delivery: We deliver training on the employer’s site, in-house at our fully equipped office, or online with sessions scheduled to fit around shift patterns and operational needs.
