Machinists in the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering sector are predominantly involved in highly skilled, complex and precision work. Work will involve machining components from specialist materials using conventional and/ or CNC machine tools such as centre lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, horizontal and cylindrical grinding machines, electro discharge machines, single and multiaxis CNC machine tools centres. During and on completion of the machining operations they will be expected to measure and check the components being produced and make adjustments to the equipment/programme to ensure components meet the required specification. QUALIFICATIONS OBTAINED Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining

THE ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP STANDARD PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND DEVELOP A RANGE OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS INCLUDING: Understanding the different roles and functions in the organisation and how they interact. Understanding of general engineering/manufacturing mathematical and scientific principles, methods, techniques, graphical expressions, symbols formulae and calculations used by engineering technicians Understanding approved diagnostic methods and techniques used to help solve engineering/manufacturing problems Working safely at all times, complying with health, safety and environmental legislation, regulations and organisational requirements Dealing promptly and effectively with engineering/manufacturing problems within the limits of their responsibility using approved diagnostic methods and techniques and report those which cannot be resolved to the appropriate personnel Obtaining, checking and using the appropriate documentation (such as job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation) Effective communication and interpersonal skills. open and honest communicator, communicating clearly using appropriate methods, listening to others and have a positive and respectful attitude Work effectively in teams. Integrate with the team, support other people, consider implications of their actions on other people and the business Focus on quality and problem solving. This apprenticeship is available to employers and employees looking to upskill in their organisation. We cannot support applications from unemployed individuals. Sole traders or self-employed individuals cannot enrol themselves but may enrol a new employee. For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund. Employ less than 50 - 16-18yr old apprentices are fully funded. 19+ you'll contribute 5%. Employ 50+ - You'll contribute 5% towards the training regardless of apprentice age. Levy payers - funded via Levy Individual employers will identify any relevant entry requirements in terms of previous qualifications. Initial assessment and diagnostic testing on English and maths will take place prior to commencement of the apprenticeship (Unless already achieved A-C, 4-9 GCSE or equivalent English & maths). Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment.
