Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership - this qualification contains 8 units and is assignment based. On-programme assessment which will include assessment of knowledge through the Diploma assignments and assessment of skills and behaviours, resulting in a portfolio of evidence which will include the creation of an operational plan, evidence of managing team performance and coaching and mentoring, chairing of meetings and provision of constructive feedback, and working collaboratively with others. Alliance Learning will also work closely with the employer to ensure that the learner achieves the 20% off-the-job learning opportunities required prior to end point assessment. The learner will also need to prepare for the end point project proposal by undertaking a work-based project to gain the required skills which will also include knowledge and skills in operational management, finance and decision making. Gateway to end-point assessment, where employer and provider agree that the apprentice has completed the above and has the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to progress to the end-point assessment. The apprentice must have achieved Functional English and Maths at Level 2 if not already gained. End-Point Assessment is conducted by CMI and will consist of a professional discussion underpinned by the contents of the portfolio of evidence and a project proposal (topic to be given by CMI at Gateway) and presentation with associated questioning. On completion of this Apprenticeship, you may wish to progress onto one of our Higher Apprenticeships in Management. We also work in partnership with the University of Bolton, which means there is also a range of Degree Apprenticeships available to eligibility/ employer approval. For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.

An Operations/Department Manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieves operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisation's strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same. Key responsibilities and award requirements will include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading, and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management and coaching and mentoring.
