This two-day course (4 hours per day) supports supervisors, team leaders, and managers in developing the communication, leadership, and digital skills needed to lead multilingual and ESOL staff effectively. It combines inclusive communication techniques with practical digital skills, helping participants to simplify information, adapt tone, and use supportive language for clarity and understanding across diverse teams. Learners explore AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT to enhance workplace communication by simplifying messages, generating clear templates, and evaluating tone and structure. Allowing participants to practise adapting real or simulated workplace materials using AI tools, while reflecting on safe and ethical digital communication practices. Delivered through interactive, scenario-based learning, the course develops professional clarity, empathy, and digital confidence in leadership communication. Learners will: Recognise the barriers multilingual or ESOL staff may face in workplace communication. Use plain English, supportive tone, and visual aids to ensure clarity and understanding. Deliver spoken and written instructions clearly and check comprehension effectively. Apply inclusive communication strategies to improve collaboration and reduce errors. Use AI tools to simplify or visualise workplace communication materials (e.g., notices, briefings, and feedback forms). Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, tone, and appropriateness in workplace contexts. Develop and adapt templates for professional communication using ethical, safe, and responsible digital practice. Reflect on how inclusive communication and AI-assisted tools can improve leadership effectiveness, safety, and staff engagement. All learning is contextualised to workplace settings and assessed through role-plays, written tasks, AI-supported activities, and reflective discussions.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service. To be eligible for this training, you must be: • 19 years old or over • Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker. • Have the right to live and work in the UK. • You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years. This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches.

This programme is suited to individuals in or progressing toward supervisory or managerial roles. Learners must have access to: A Microsoft 365 environment (institutional or personal licence) with appropriate permissions for digital and AI-assisted tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT. Internet connectivity for guided AI communication activities. Workplace or sample materials for adapting and practising inclusive communication. All AI tasks use anonymised or simulated examples to ensure GDPR compliance and safe digital practice.
