This course enables contract personnel to satisfy the need for high standards in Health & Safety training in the food & drink industry. The Food & Drink Safety Passport Scheme, accredited by the SPA is a way of only accepting personnel who hold this Safety Passport. Successful completion of the course results in delegates being issued with an identification passport, which is valid for 3 years. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive. The course aim is to: - Reduce time spent on the induction of contractors on site - Provides assurance on levels of contractor health & safety awareness - Ensure all contractors are working to best practice - Improve job prospects and increase competitiveness through the use of certified personnel

The course covers a wide range of topics in the Food & Drink sectors, including: - Food sector syllabus introduction and hygiene - Hygiene - Essentials of biological, chemical and physical contamination - Main legislation - Procedures for reporting illness and incidents - Environmental Protection - Pollution - Disposal strategies and awareness - Health and Safety - Work permits - Access and Egress - Machinery hazards - Transport and heavy plant - Warehousing - Stuck by hazards - Fire and explosion - Electricity - Working in extreme temperatures - Slips, trips and falls - Communication - Occupational health At the end of each module throughout the course, delegates will complete short multiple choice assessments. Upon successful completion, delegates will be awarded with a SPA Food & Drink passport, valid for three years.
