The Cyber Security Engineer apprentice can help to design, build and test secure networks, security products or systems to help protect your organisation against cyber threats.  Apprentices will learn to use Project Ares, Python, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerShell, Linux and AWS.   Module 1: Introduction to Cyber Security  Module 2: Networking Fundamentals Module 3: Operating Systems  Module 4: Security Foundations Module 5: Security Management  Module 6: Active Defence  Module 7: Cloud Security  Module 8: Programming and Scripting  Module 9: Threat Analysis  This programme is suitable for multiple roles, such as:  Cyber Security Engineer, Cyber Security Consultant, Cyber Security Analyst, Cyber Security Specialist, IT Security Technician and Embedded Engineer.

Learning Objectives

An understanding of the world of Cyber Security & IT. A hands-on discovery of networking covering both on-premise and cloud networking infrastructures. Explore the Linux operating system. Building upon Cyber Security-specific skills and common security tooling in the industry. How cyber security is viewed from a business angle. How businesses can be attacked and steps that a threat actor may take to compromise a system. Cloud technologies and security concerns. Hands-on learning of common and useful programming & scripting languages. Threat intelligence and malware and how these threats can be found and eradicated.

Funding Eligibility

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
