Learning Objectives

What will be taught?

Introduction to current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations applicable to
work in the gas and power industries.
Gas and electrical theories and procedures involved in the practical application of installation,
exchange, commission, decommission and maintenance of smart metering systems.
Develop skills to be able to carry out a thorough and rigorous risk assessment to ensure safety of
customer, self and property.
Gas and electrical testing and assessment.
Use tools, equipment and PPE in a safe and appropriate manner.
Install a communication system for smart meters.
Decommissioning, installation and testing of gas and single phase electric smart meters.
Tightness Testing and direct purging of gas meters.
Professional behaviours and personal wellbeing and the safety of others as a priority.
Be risk aware and maintain compliance with appropriate rules and regulations.
Be energy aware and deliver advice to customers, deliver a polite, courteous professional service
