The CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management is designed for senior Human Resources professionals who wish to develop their strategic thinking, shaping the future of their organisation and the HR profession. By completing the postgraduate CIPD Level 7, you will develop advanced expertise in areas including leadership, business research and analysis, and creation of reports to influence stakeholders’ adoption of policies. The assessments focus on real-life scenarios, preparing you for challenges you may encounter in your career. Upon completion, you will be well placed to step into senior leadership roles, such as Head of Human Resources and Talent. Additionally, you will become an Associate member of CIPD, with the opportunity to apply for CIPD Chartered Membership.

In order to achieve the CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management, you will need to complete 4 core units, 3 specialist units and an optional unit. Each module is assessed by a written assessment. Work and working lives in a changing business environment (core unit) This unit will give you an in-depth understanding of the interactions between the commercial business environment and anticipated future developments within work, employment and the people management. You will look at how leaders in people practice respond to globalisation and its impact on work and employment. People management and development strategies for performance (core unit) This unit focuses on how people management professionals can strategically add value and contribute to achieving organisational goals across various sectors. You will understand the importance of evidence-based, outcome-driven and principles-led practice in support of the core purposes of the people management profession. Personal effectiveness, ethics and business acumen (core unit) This unit focuses on supporting successful employees, encouraging effective and ethical practices. You will explore the theories and concepts essential for promoting inclusivity, influencing others through fair and transparent behaviours and understanding the impact that inclusive behaviour has on ethics and the organisation. Business research in people practice (core unit) This unit develops the skills needed to adopt a systematic approach to planning, designing and conducting a business research project in people practice. You will focus on creating an integrated report that is based on evidence, actionable recommendations and critical reflections. Strategic Employment Relations (specialist unit) This unit explores the diverse perspectives of employment relations, examining the dynamics of cooperation and conflict across workplaces. You will analyse and evaluate differing viewpoints on employment relations, the varying levels of cooperation and conflict across organisations, including employer strategies towards trade unions and disciplinary procedures. Resourcing and talent management to sustain success (specialist unit) This unit focuses on both the daily practicalities and the long-term strategic considerations involved with resourcing organisations in a fair, ethical and effective way. You will investigate how the business environment influences resourcing and talent management, focusing on strategy, succession and workforce planning. Strategic reward management (specialist unit) This unit examines the role of strategic reward in attracting, motivating and retaining talent to align individual, team and organisational behaviours with objectives. You will learn how to design, implement, manage and evaluate fair reward strategies, understanding their influence on people practices. Advanced employment law in practice (elective unit) This unit explores the fundamental principles of employment law, including the defences available to employers and the remedies sought by claimants in legal proceedings. You will develop an understanding of UK employment law and the regulatory framework for governing employment, along with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in practice.
