Skill Overview

Our Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship develops the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to work effectively with young people. Apprentices will gain the qualifications and experience required to become a JNC-qualified Youth Support Worker.

This programme combines practical on-the-job training with flexible online learning. Apprentices will develop the ability to lead youth work activities, build positive relationships with young people, and contribute to their personal and social development. Learners are provided with their own digital learning plan where they can access learning resources, develop their ePortfolio, and see real-time updates on their progress.

Suitable for individuals aged 16+ who deliver operational youth work and undertake duties on their own initiative or have supervisory responsibility for small projects. For those with a passion for working with young people, this apprenticeship offers a clear pathway to a rewarding career in youth work.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship, learners will be able to:
•	Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people.
•	Plan and deliver youth work activities in accordance with organisational guidelines.
•	Assess the needs and aspirations of young people to inform support plans.
•	Work effectively as part of a multi-agency team to meet the needs of young people.
•	Contribute to the development and implementation of youth work projects.
•	Understand and apply safeguarding procedures.
•	Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•	Develop administrative and organisational skills.
•	Reflect on own practice and identify areas for development.

Funding Option

Funding Eligibility

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
