Management has been described as meeting agreed goals and objectives through people. Managers cannot hope to motivate staff and win respect and commitment through their title alone. This requires the understanding and effective application of Leadership skills. This 1 Day Course explores the fundamental differences between Leadership and Management traits and provides delegates with practical insight into their own skills and attributes. The course then explores how best to motivate staff and identifies how the Manager can make a positive contribution towards motivating staff in order to increase performance.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to: • Identify the role and responsibilities of the Supervisor • Recognise what motivates staff • Identify personal and organisational management styles • Identify the characteristics of a successful leader • Assess own leadership capabilities and preferred style • Formulate a personal development plan for enhancing leadership strengths. Supervisors or Managers who wish to increase their own self-awareness and identify their own Management Style. Also for those wishing to identify how motivation works, in order to increase the commitment and performance of their staff.
