Our International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in this dynamic industry. Apprentices will gain a comprehensive understanding of import and export regulations, customs procedures, and the logistics of transporting goods by land, sea, or air.
This programme caters to individuals at all levels within the freight forwarding sector, providing a solid foundation for career advancement. By specialising in either Land, Sea, or Air Freight, apprentices will develop in-depth expertise in their chosen area.
Ideal for:
•	Those responsible for ensuring compliance with import and export laws.
•	Individuals involved in customs procedures, goods classification, and transportation.
•	Staff handling shipment bookings, carrier relations, and documentation.
By combining practical on-the-job training with structured learning, apprentices will develop the skills necessary to excel in the fast-paced world of international freight forwarding.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship, learners will be able to:
•	Understand and apply import and export laws and regulations.
•	Effectively manage customs procedures and documentation.
•	Demonstrate knowledge of different modes of transport (land, sea, and air).
•	Efficiently handle shipment bookings, liaise with carriers, and manage logistics.
•	Prepare accurate sales quotations, invoices, and financial reports.
•	Develop strong customer service and communication skills.
•	Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of international trade processes.
•	Apply problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
•	Develop a specialisation in either land, sea, or air freight.
•	Demonstrate commercial acumen, organisation and diligence in daily tasks.
•	Exhibit respect for colleagues and clients, and be receptive to feedback.
•	Effectively communicate and collaborate within a team environment.

Funding Option

Funding Eligibility

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
