This Mental Capacity course has been designed to help healthcare staff understand the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and their implementation throughout the social care and healthcare sectors. It is suitable for new healthcare starters or as a refresher for existing healthcare staff to update their current knowledge. This course emphasises the importance of person-centred approaches to support individuals who may lack capacity to make their own decisions and how to take appropriate action and protect the welfare and freedom of choice of individuals cared for. This Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the DoLS course will explain how the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) may apply to your setting and outlines what your responsibilities are.
