This one-day (5.5 hours) contextualised ESOL course develops English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through the lens of Health & Safety in the construction workplace. It supports learners at Entry Level 3 progressing to Level 1, including those employed in construction, volunteers, and individuals preparing for entry into the sector or the GQA Health & Safety Award / CSCS test. Participants will build functional English communication skills relevant to safe site practice — including vocabulary, form completion, following instructions, and discussing risk assessments. The course provides a linguistic foundation for safe, confident participation in the workplace and progression to further vocational training. Delivered through tutor-led activities, pair work, and scenario-based learning, this course integrates safeguarding, EDI, Prevent, and British Values throughout. Employer Benefits: Improved communication and understanding of health and safety among multilingual teams. Reduced risk of misunderstandings and incidents caused by language barriers. Greater workforce engagement and inclusion in safety procedures. Employee Benefits: Stronger English language skills for safe workplace communication. Increased confidence to understand and follow safety information. A foundation for progression to vocational qualifications and the CSCS Health & Safety Award.
