Safe Administration of Medication Full Day On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to: * Legal framework and carers stance when administering medication * Drug classification, medication names and labelling * Routes and types of medication * Principles of prescriptions * Homely remedies * Storage and disposal of medication * Self-administration and compliance aids * Medication contraindications, allergies, overdosing and side effects * Monitored Dosage Systems and medication abbreviations * Documentation and record keeping (Medications Administration Records) * Missed doses, errors and covert administration of medication * Recognising and reporting changes in the service user Safe Administration of Medication Half Day * Definitions and classification of medications * Methods of administration * Process of medicine management and organisation's procedure * Administration procedure * Medication storage * Medication disposal * When things go wrong Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam * Understanding seizures and epilepsy * To develop an understanding of: * What Buccal Midazolam is and how it works * When Buccal Midazolam is used in epilepsy * The emergency action plan for epilepsy * Demonstrate and describe the correct procedure for the safe and effective administration of Buccal Midazolam * To recognise potential difficulties
