This course develops the essential English & Digital Skills required for success in the passive fire protection industry. Learning is fully contextualised to the role of a passive fire installer, combining theory, practical workshops, and digital learning. Learners will: •Develop technical reading, communication, and problem-solving skills through real-world tasks •Use digital tools and apps for documentation, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance •Build practical competence and knowledge in installing and assessing passive fire protection systems •By embedding Functional Skills within authentic site-based activities, the course prepares learners for employment, enhances job readiness, and promotes compliance with industry safety and quality standards. This course develops core English and Digital Skills contextualised to the role of a passive fire installer. Learners will: -Read and interpret workplace documentation, including technical drawings, fire strategy plans, and safety instructions -Identify and define technical terminology relevant to passive fire protection -Summarise and explain information clearly using appropriate workplace language -Plan, draft, and write accurate records, such as installation logs, reports, and inspection notes -Apply correct grammar, punctuation, and structure to written communication for clarity and purpose -Search for, evaluate, and manage digital information safely and efficiently -Create, edit, and share digital documents in line with organisational procedures -Use workplace apps and cloud platforms to record, store, and communicate installation data securely -All skills are delivered through realistic, industry-focused activities that reflect the practical and regulatory demands of passive fire installation, supporting both technical competence and employability in the construction sector.

This course is part of our Skills Development Service. To be eligible for this training, you must be: • 19 years old or over • Employed, volunteering or an unpaid worker. • Have the right to live and work in the UK. • You must not already have achieved a level 2 qualification, in this subject, in the last 3 years. This support is available for those living in Greater Manchester or one of the neighbouring areas. These include parts of Lancashire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, and Cheshire – your eligibility will be checked by one of our Skills Coaches.
