This course is for individuals who wish to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of first aid to enable them to provide care and manage life-threatening conditions, illness and injuries in early years settings. It offers the opportunity for those involved in early years settings to provide quality and effective first aid care. This is achieved through an understanding of the general duties, responsibilities and treatment principles of first aid. Course is for up to 12 people, at your own setting.

The 2-day course is designed to meet the full OFSTED requirements for content of a paediatric first aid course and includes the following learning outcomes: Planning for first aid emergencies Dealing with emergencies Resuscitating (CPR for infant, child, adult including use of an AED) Recognising and responding appropriately to: Hypovolemic shock Anaphylactic shock Electric shock Bleeding Burns and scalds Choking Suspected fractures Head, neck and back injuries Cases of poisoning Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses Eye injuries Bites and stings Effects of extreme heat and cold Febrile convulsions Emergency needs of chronic medical conditions including: epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, meningitis and other serious sudden illness. Training involves all students being practically involved in the use of a range of equipment including resuscitation dummies (junior and infant), defibrillators, choking vests, epipens, a range of plasters, dressings and cool packs.
