This Apprenticeship is a brilliant way to gain new practical and professional skills, on-the-job training, nationally recognised qualifications and earn money at the same time. This Apprenticeship course is also available to those who are employed and want to upskill in the workplace. Option 1: Lean Manufacturing Operatives working within a Production/Assembly role. Option 2: Manufacturing Operatives working within an Inspection/Quality assurance role. Option 3: Manufacturing Operatives working within a Logistics/Material handling role. Option 4: Manufacturing Operatives working within a Production processing/finishing role. A Lean Manufacturing Operative will be expected to carry out their work safely and meet the exacting quality standards demanded in a fast-paced and efficient processing environment and develop into a multi-skilled operator through process ownership. A lean manufacturing operative can be required to carry out manufacturing activities on multiple products with different specifications consecutively e.g. automotive manufacturing – Multi-models manufacturing results in the manufacturing of different models of vehicles with different specification variants within a high volume environment.

Learning Objectives Include: Relevant statutory, organisational and health and safety regulations relating to lean manufacturing operations and safe practices; Compliance procedures/systems in line with regulatory requirements e.g. ISO 14001 or other relevant environmental standards; Their individual roles and responsibilities within the organisation and the flexibility required to deliver products to customer's costs/delivery targets/requirements e.g. Just in time (JIT); Manufacturing standard operation procedures (SOPs) adherence and development of lean processes; Process equipment monitoring, data collection, error proofing and operating procedures e.g. ISO 9002 or other relevant quality standards; The tools and methods of effective problem-solving using data, reports and documents to resolve production-related issues e.g. A3 reports, graphs, matrices and escalate concerns; How to study and identify ways to improve safety, quality, cost or process efficiency using lean manufacturing tools e.g. kaizen; How to share information using a range of methods within the manufacturing environment e.g. oral, written, electronic, information boards, and visual displays; How to maintain a safe and efficient work site through workplace organisation e.g. 5s and process ownership. In addition to lots more relevant to your chosen option. The Training Will Include: Face-to-face and/or remote workshops together with online learning; 1:1 support from a Tutor who will visit your workplace; Progress reviews are to be completed with your Tutor and line manager; Development of a work-based portfolio to evidence learning; End-point assessment (EPA); Functional Skills English and/or maths Level 1 and/or Level 2, if required. This is an 12-month course with a 3-month End Point Assessment period.

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.

Undertake the Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result. In order to complete the apprenticeship, you will need English and maths at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE grade 9-4), but if you don’t have these qualifications don’t let this stop you from undertaking the apprenticeship as we can help you gain the Level 2 requirement during your studies.
