Skill Overview

The Data Analyst apprenticeship is designed for ambitious data specialists looking to further their career in data analytics. You’ll gain the skills that successful data analysts need in order to transform data into actionable insights and support organisational decision-making.

This Level 4 programme is ideal for junior, departmental, and marketing data analysts working within a range of sectors such as finance, operations, HR, engineering and marketing. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you will gain the knowledge and skills to harness your organisation’s data effectively through accurate analysis of complex data sets.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, Data Analyst Apprentices gain the following knowledge and skills, and will be able to exhibit the following behaviours:

Knowledge:

Data Governance and Compliance – Understand relevant legislation and data security standards to ensure that data is managed and used in a compliant, secure, and ethical manner.

Data Analysis Techniques – Knowledge of the principles of the data life cycle, the use of various analytical approaches and the application of statistical methods for analysing datasets.

Data Management and Integration – Understand the core concepts in data structures and database systems, including methods for integrating data from diverse origins.

Skills:

Data Analysis and Implementation – Application of the principles of data classification, implementing stages of the data analysis lifecycle, and utilising various analytical techniques.

Data Security and Compliance – Securely use data systems in accordance with procedures and legislation, while ensuring adherence to organisational requirements during data analysis activities.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication – Effectively collaborate and communicate with a range of stakeholders to present data using visual tools.

Behaviours:

Adaptability and Resilience – Be resilient considering obstacles and learning from setbacks, while remaining adaptable to changes within projects.

Problem-solving and Initiative – Demonstrate resourcefulness in tackling problems, identifying and resolving complex issues efficiently, and taking responsibility for ensuring lasting solutions.

Collaboration and Independence – Be able to work both independently and as part of a team, using logical and analytical thinking to approach tasks.

Funding Option

Funding Eligibility

For apprentices aged 16-21 the training costs are fully funded by the government. For apprentices aged over 21, there is a 5% co-investment which would be paid by the employer. Alternatively, the training costs can be covered by utilising the Apprenticeship Levy Fund.
