The CIPR Specialist Diploma in Crisis Communications is ideal for senior PR professionals wishing to gain the knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to an organisation’s risk assessment and crisis preparation. This Crisis Communication Specialist Diploma is also designed for generalist PR professionals wanting to develop their understanding of crisis planning and for those aiming to specialise in crisis communications.

Through this level 7 qualification (Master’s level) you will learn to apply key concepts in crisis response and learn how to lead an organisation’s risk assessment, crisis preparations and crisis management. The course takes approximately 6 months to complete.

Learning Objectives

To gain the CIPR Specialist Diploma in Crisis Communications, you are required to complete one unit and a written assessment.

You will learn how to analyse the causes of circumstances requiring crisis communication, as well as how to contribute to risk assessments. You will cover how to manage public relations during a crisis, including strategic and tactical messaging and best practice strategies. Finally, you will learn how to critically evaluate a crisis response, including post-crisis reputation repair.

The CIPR Specialist Diploma in Crisis Communications is aimed at experienced PR professionals.

To undertake this qualification, you are required to have one of the following:

A previous CIPR Qualification and two years’ experience in PR
A business or marketing degree, in addition to one year’s work experience
A non-business or marketing degree, in addition to two years’ experience in PR
Four years’ full-time employment in PR, in addition to five GCSEs, one of which must be in English Language
