The A66A Compact Crane Course focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required to operate compact cranes with static stabilisers safely and effectively. Operators will learn to handle loads in confined spaces and ensure safe lifting operations in compliance with industry standards.

1. Crane Setup and Configuration Understand the functions and capabilities of compact cranes with static stabilisers. Learn how to correctly set up and stabilise the crane on different ground conditions. Ensure safe positioning of stabilisers to maintain crane stability during operations. 2. Operational Techniques Operate the compact crane to lift, move, and place loads safely and efficiently. Apply techniques for precise load handling in restricted or confined spaces. Use appropriate lifting accessories based on load requirements. 3. Risk Awareness and Site Safety Identify and mitigate potential hazards during crane operations. Understand site-specific safety protocols and legal regulations. Conduct pre-use and routine inspections to ensure equipment safety. 4. Load Handling and Management Assess and manage loads, including weight distribution and centre of gravity. Use load charts to calculate lifting capacity based on boom angle, radius, and stabiliser positioning. Avoid overloading or unsafe practices during operations. 5. Communication and Coordination Effectively communicate with the lift team, including slingers/signallers. Use standardised hand and radio signals to guide operations. 6. Emergency Procedures Respond appropriately to equipment malfunctions or emergencies. Implement safe shutdown procedures if necessary.

Good understanding of spoken and written English. To enrol to the course, candidates need to have passed the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test within the last two years. If you haven’t taken the test yet, there’s no need to worry—our centre is an approved CITB testing facility, and we’d be happy to assist you with booking your test to ensure everything is in place before the course begins.
