Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course on Information Governance. In this course we will teach you everything you’ll need to know to be able to safeguard confidential information.  

We will begin by covering seven of the key principles involved in securely governing and managing information.  

From there, we’ll move into an explanation of why information governance is important within a healthcare setting. 

After that, legislation related to information governance will be covered.  

The fourth section will look at the different forms that information can be presented or stored in.  

The following section will be on how best to comply with the legislation that is relevant to information governance in healthcare. 

From there, possible threats to data security that you should be aware of will be looked at.  

The seventh section will cover how to identify if there have been any breaches of data protection, and how you should go about reporting them.  

Afterwards, we’ll look at security measures that you can implement to keep confidential information safe. 

Following that will be the Caldicott Principles, and how they apply to you.  

The section afterwards will teach you how to gain the consent of an individual if it is deemed necessary to share confidential information about them.  

The second-to-last section will be on identifying the responsibilities that you have as a healthcare professional under the Freedom of Information Act.  

Finally, we will cover the benefits of good informational governance.
